So What's New?

What have I been up to for the past three weeks? Well, since LOST has wrapped up for the season, I have missed what has become my weekly posting. I never intended my blogs to focus so much on LOST, but my laptop (my primary computer) has been on the fritz since sometime in April and having to sit down in front of a desktop is not the way that I have grown accustomed to blogging over these past few years. There is something that I find restrictive about having to sit down at a desk to compose my thoughts. I feel like I'm more spontaneous if I can just pick up my laptop and go.

But I digress. I fully intended to begin more regular updates about all of the happenings in my life, but have been almost too busy living it to sit down at the aforementioned desk to write about it. And when I was available to write, I was in no physical condition to do so. Since my last post, Roxi and I took a day trip to catch some blue point crabs with some friends over the Memorial Day weekend. It was super fun and the crabs were very tasty after we boiled them, although we had to improvise a little since we didn't quite catch the feast that we had been planning.

Following the Memorial Day weekend, I got a nasty bug and/or food poisoning, I'm still not sure which. It was very unpleasant for two full days and I was still not quite my usual self when I dragged myself back to work at the end of the week in order to log a little more paid time before my youngest brother's wedding the following week.

My brother and his fiance have been planning a wedding cruise since last summer and they invited immediate family and close friends to join them. When I got sick on that Wednesday after Memorial Day, I was pretty bummed that I would be sick for the cruise. However, I did what my body wanted and just rested for two days and then continued my diet of saltines and 7-Up for another two days. That ended just in time for Roxi and my arrival in Galveston on the first Saturday of June to prepare for our departure on the wedding cruise.

We had a fantastic time and I took an abundance of pictures that I plan on posting soon (I'm still trying to catch up with everything that was put on hold by the vacation and the illness). The wedding ceremony was held on the fourth day of the cruise while we were in port at Grand Cayman. The room was beautifully decorated, the officiant was so very eloquent and the group that Travis and Danielle invited were just a joy to be with for their special day. So my little brother is married now! It doesn't really seem like anything has changed since they have been dating for seven years and living together for two, but it is very unusual to see Travis wearing a wedding ring.

All of this wedding business made Roxi and I realize just how close our wedding is. We have officially set the date on October 6 and have finalized a location. After trying desperately to stage a wedding here in Lafayette, it became very obvious that our little city just couldn't offer the venue that Roxi wanted so we have shifted our ceremony to New Orleans. Hopefully this decision won't affect the turnout too much. I would have loved to have my friends come to Lafayette for our wedding, but New Orleans will be even better as it has much more to offer even in these nearly two years since Hurricane Katrina.

We got back home on Sunday and I have been trying to recover since then. I finally felt like my old self today for the first time in a couple of weeks. Of course, our go-go lives won't let me enjoy it. Roxi left this afternoon to road trip with some of her friends to a wedding in North Carolina. I will be joining her on Saturday and then will turn right back around on Sunday, but I feel okay about it as we were able to get some really good airline rates.

That aboout sums up my last few weeks and previews this weekend. There is more coming, but I'll save that for later.

Glad you are back amongst the blogging! I've missed your posts!

Do you think it was the crabs that got you?

The thought has crossed my mind however the five other people who ate them didn't have any adverse reaction that I know of. In any event, I'm glad it's behind me because I hadn't been sick like that since I was very young! Being sick is just no fun.
